Frequently asked questions
Common questions about MapleSecure. Have something else? Email support@mapleworksuite.com.
What is MapleSecure?
MapleSecure is a Canadian-hosted e-signature, secure document vault, and encrypted fax platform. Send a signing request, store sensitive PDFs in an AES-256 vault, and fax to a clinic or law firm without ever printing.
How is MapleSecure different from DocuSign, HelloSign, or Adobe Sign?
MapleSecure keeps every signed document and audit log inside Canadian datacenters, bundles secure fax (DocuSign and Adobe Sign do not), and costs roughly half of comparable U.S. e-sign tools. It also natively integrates with MapleMail and MapleConcierge so signed docs flow into client records automatically.
Are documents encrypted at rest and in transit?
Yes. All files are encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.3. Each signed PDF is also cryptographically sealed so any later modification breaks the tamper-evident certificate.
Can I send secure fax for healthcare or legal use cases?
Yes. MapleSecure includes encrypted send and receive fax with retention logs, intended for clinics, dentists, lawyers, and insurance brokers who need a paper-trail-equivalent for sensitive PDFs. Faxes are stored encrypted alongside the rest of your vault.
Is MapleSecure PIPEDA and provincial health-data compliant?
Yes. MapleSecure is built around PIPEDA Part 2 (electronic documents), PHIPA (Ontario health data), and equivalent provincial acts. Data residency is Canada-only, with no replication to U.S. infrastructure.
Can I integrate MapleSecure with MapleMail and MapleConcierge?
Yes. Native integrations let you send a signing request directly from a MapleMail thread, attach the signed PDF to a MapleConcierge client record, and trigger a MapleTask the moment a contract is countersigned. There is also a public REST API + Zapier connector.
How much does MapleSecure cost per month in CAD?
MapleSecure has exactly two plans: Free (up to 2 signed documents per month) and Unlimited at $15 CAD/month (unlimited signed documents). Charity rate: $11.25/mo on Unlimited for verified Canadian registered charities. Dedicated fax line, secure messaging, and document self-destruct are available as separate add-ons.
Are MapleSecure e-signatures legally binding in Canada?
Yes. MapleSecure signatures meet the requirements of PIPEDA Part 2 (Secure Electronic Signature regulations) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, and align with provincial Electronic Commerce Acts. They are admissible in Canadian courts the same way a DocuSign or Adobe Sign signature would be.
What is a Canadian alternative to DocuSign?
MapleSecure is a Canadian-hosted alternative to DocuSign and Adobe Sign. You get the same legally binding e-signatures, but every signed document and audit log stays in Canadian datacenters, billing is in CAD, and it costs roughly half of comparable U.S. tools, starting at $15 CAD/month with a free plan.
Is my data stored in Canada with MapleSecure?
Yes. MapleSecure keeps 100% of your documents, signatures, and audit logs in Canadian datacenters with no replication to U.S. infrastructure. Data residency is Canada-only, which matters for PIPEDA, PHIPA, and provincial privacy compliance.
Does MapleSecure provide a certificate of completion and audit trail?
Yes. Every signed document includes a tamper-evident certificate of completion plus a full audit trail that logs each event (sent, viewed, signed, declined, faxed) with timestamp, IP address, and device fingerprint. You can export the audit trail as a PDF for legal or compliance review.
Can I send a document to multiple signers with MapleSecure?
Yes. You can send a single document to multiple signers, each with their own signing fields. Every signer completes the document on their own device and the certificate of completion records each signature separately.
Can I sign documents on my phone with MapleSecure?
Yes. MapleSecure is mobile-first. Signers tap a link in an email or text, sign with a finger or stylus, and submit. No app install and no account are required for the person signing.
Do signers need an account to sign a MapleSecure document?
No. Recipients sign without creating an account or logging in. They open a secure link, complete the signing fields on any device, and submit. Only the sender needs a MapleSecure account.
Does MapleSecure have document templates?
Yes. MapleSecure includes a library of Canadian-flavoured templates such as NDAs, contractor agreements, consent forms, lease addendums, and IT acceptable-use policies, so you can reuse common documents instead of rebuilding them each time.
Is there a free e-signature plan from MapleSecure?
Yes. The Free plan lets you send up to 2 signed documents per month, forever, with the audit trail, certificate of completion, and Canadian data residency included. No credit card is required to start.
Is there a charity or non-profit discount for MapleSecure?
Yes. Verified Canadian registered charities pay $11.25 CAD/month for the Unlimited plan instead of $15. Email support@mapleworksuite.com with your CRA verification to apply the charity rate.
How secure is MapleSecure and what encryption does it use?
MapleSecure encrypts all files at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.3. Each signed PDF is cryptographically sealed, so any later modification breaks the tamper-evident certificate and is detectable.
Can MapleSecure send and receive fax securely?
Yes. MapleSecure offers encrypted send-and-receive fax with retention logs, built for clinics, dentists, lawyers, and insurance brokers. Inbound faxes arrive in your vault as searchable PDFs, stored encrypted alongside your other documents. A dedicated fax line is an add-on.
Can I store and share sensitive documents with MapleSecure?
Yes. MapleSecure includes an AES-256 encrypted document vault for storing sensitive PDFs, IDs, insurance certificates, and signed contracts. Files are encrypted at rest and replicated only within Canada, so you can stop emailing sensitive PDFs in plain text.
Is MapleSecure good for medical, dental, or law offices in Canada?
Yes. MapleSecure is built for Canadian clinics, dental offices, and law firms that handle sensitive documents. It combines PIPEDA and PHIPA-aligned e-signatures, an encrypted vault, and secure fax, with Canada-only data residency and a seven-year retention model out of the box.
Does MapleSecure have an API or integrations?
Yes. MapleSecure offers a public REST API and a Zapier connector, plus native integrations with MapleMail and MapleConcierge. You can send signing requests from an email thread, attach signed PDFs to a client record, and trigger a task the moment a contract is countersigned.
